To Convert Minutes of a Degree to a Decimal use this Formula:

Minutes of a Degree ÷ 60

Example:

47° 33’  

33’ ÷ 60 = .55

Bring Down the Degrees = 47.55°


To Convert Minutes and Seconds of a Degree to a Decimal use this Formula:

First, Divide the Seconds by 60

Next, Bring Down the Minutes To form a Decimal Minutes

Next, Divide the Decimal Minutes by 60 to Form a New Decimal

Last, bring Down the Degrees to Form a Decimal

Example:

35° 41’ 15”

Divide Seconds by 60: 15 ÷ 60 = .25

Bring Down the Minutes to Form a Decimal Minutes = 41.25

Divide Decimal Minutes by 60: 41.25 ÷ 60 = .6875

Bring Down the Degrees to Form a Decimal: 35.6875°


To Convert Decimal Degrees to Minutes use this Formula:

Multiply the Decimal by 60 and Bring Down the Degrees

Example:

26.7°

Multiply Decimal Degrees by 60: .7 x 60 = 42’

Bring Down the Degrees: 26° 42’


To Convert Decimal Degrees to Minutes and Seconds use this Formula:

Example:

To Convert the Decimal Degrees in this Example, 30.6875° to Minutes and Seconds Calculate the Following:

First Multiply the Degree Decimal by 60: .6875 x 60 = 41.25’

Next, Multiply the Decimal Minutes from the Last Calculation by 60:

.25 x 60 = 15”

Last, Bring Down the Degrees Minutes and Seconds: 30° 41’ 15”


To Convert Degrees to Radians use this Formula:

Multiply the Degrees, in Decimal Form, by .0174532925 to Obtain Radians

Example:

Convert 29.3875° to Radians

29.3875 x .0174532925 = .512909 Radians


To Convert Radians to Degrees use this Formula:

Multiply the Radians, in Decimal Form, by 57.29577951 to Obtain Degrees

Example:

Convert .965825 Radians to Degrees

.965825 x 57.29577951 = 55.337696 Degrees
